Speed Ratings
A Race against time...
Speed ratings are base on a number of factors including, time
taken to run the race, race distance, condition of the ground
and racecourse where it is run.
Time taken to run a race cannot be used alone as a 5 furlong
race at Beverley is totally different to 5 furlongs at Goodwood.
Each racecourse will have a set of standard times which the
compliers consider should be achievable.
These times are sometimes faster than the course record which
can sometimes be confusing. All this means is the quality of
horse required to archive this time has never run at the course.
