Flat Racing
On the turf...
As it name suggests is racing that takes place on the flat
with no obstacles to jump over. The Flat (Turf) Racing in the UK
takes place between late March and early November.
While All Weather Racing takes place thought the year the
main season is during the winter months. There are five classic
races throughout the year these are 1000 & 2000 Guineas both run
at Newmarket Racecourse.
The Oaks and Derby which are run at Epsom and St Ledger run
at Doncaster Racecourse. In addition to these races there are
three to five day festivals including the following;
Chester (3 days in May)
York (3 days in May)
Royal Ascot (5 days in June)
Newmarket (3 days in July)
Goodwood (5 days in July)
York (3 days in August)
There are others but these are my personal favourites.
