WillianHill.com – Casino Novices Hurdle (Listed Race)

WillianHill.com – Casino Novices Hurdle is a listed race for 4yos and above with the four to six years old having the best success and the jolly old fav tend to do well.

William Hogarth is a 5yo gelding which has run exclusively over the jumps for the last twelve months and has won twice. Both of these wins have come at a much lower level of racing, although he did beat Karasenir with the last of those wins at Chepstow twelve months ago. W K Goldsworth looks inform and today’s jockey, Rhys Flint does have a good record for the trainer.

Karasenir is a 4yo gelding who is trained by P J Hobbs and Richard Johnson is his top jockey. Trainer does not win as often as he should at the course and the fact that both Mareno and William Hogarth have both beaten this horse I would not want to that too short a price on this one. With that said he did finish second to Rock On Ruby at Taunton in February, which is a race that has produced a number of winners since.

Dereks is an 8yo gelding who has won three times over hurdles, all of them have come this year. The last of which was in August when he beat Marc Aurele by eleven lengths and although the trainer does not have the best strike rate in the world the horse does look to have a chance.

Marc Aurele is trained by P F Nicholls who is in excellent form and is ridden by Mr R Mahon who has an even better strike rate for the trainer then top jockey Ruby Walsh so would need to be respected.

Rajnagan has only raced on the flat in Ireland and not been seen out for a very long time and won a flat maiden race at Clonmel.

Rajamand is another that has not seen a racecourse for a long time and the trainer has an average sort of strike rate but not so good here.

Mister New York has only ever raced on the flat and has managed to win seven of his races. The best of these would be the class two race he won at Lingfield early in the year. Out of the sire Forest Wildcat who to date has not produced a winner over the jumps..

Marleno is a 4yo who has run in four NHF races and achieved is best placing when finishing third to Tetlami at Cheltenham back in January. A number of the runners in that race have since gone on to win more than once and has Warren Marston on board today.

Hatton Flight is another to have only raced on the flat but has managed to win nine times, seven of those wins have come in his last seventeen races, all of them in a twelve month spell. So add the fact that the trainer does quite well here and this is another with a chance.

Goodwood Starlight is trained by Miss Sheena West and has five flat wins to his name. Trainer is another who can do well here, however, today’s pilot is not one of her regular jockeys.
