Pontefract Totepool Silver Tankard Stakes (Listed Race)

Totepool Silver Tankard Stakes is a listed race for 2yo’s run over a mile at Pontefract and the favourite has a good record. The trainer M R Channon has won this event four times in the last ten years, three of those wins have come in the last four running’s.

Royal Exchange is a colt who has won three of his six races including a listed event at Salisbury back in August which he won by just under two lengths. Is trained by R Hannon who does not have a lot of runners at this course but is made up for by the jockey Ryan Moore who has an excellent strike rate.

Zenella is a filly who has been running over shorter distances and easily won her first start at Ripon over 6f back in August at odds of 20/1. Has not meet any of these before and trainer and jockey have a average sort of strike rate.

Star Surprise has won two of his five races and both of these have been at Sandown including over today’s distance on his last outing. The trainer does have a excellent record at Sandown but the strike rate here is only about half at about twelve percent.

Time To Work is another colt and is trained by A M Balding and ridden by David Probert and both of these have visited this course on very few occasions. Has won two of his five races, both of these were at Epsom where the trainer has an excellent strike rate.

Rigolleto is from the yard which has won three of the last four running’s of this race and has one of the trainers top jockeys ridding today. Won at Chester in August where he just managed to get the better of Profondo Rosso over 7f.

Weapon Of Choice is another colt who has won one of his two starts which was at Goodwood last time out beating Kadoodd by three and a half lengths. Finished second to Vanguard Dream previous to that who has since gone on to complete a hat trick. The trainer, while not had a great number of runners here does put up of his top jockeys for today’s race.
