Jadwiz Horse Racing Form

Top Horse Ratings Flat Non-Handicap Races

Over the years I have been asked which is the best way of using the Jadwiz Racing ratings and thought it was about time to have a look at the results for the period 2008 to 2017.

Easy Group Race WinnersTo get a good feeling of how things have been going I used the top three rated with our horse ratings and assumed each one of these was backed, providing it was not a non-runner.

This was done for each UK racecourse and split into four groups, flat handicap races, flat non-handicap races, jump handicap races and jump non-handicap racing events.

Once I had done this I found the average strike rate, average profit and average ROI for each group and compared this to the figures for each racecourse.

On this page we will be looking and concentrating on flat non-handicap races but you can use the links at the bottom of the page to view results for the other three groups and there is an Excel file which you can download if you like.

Flat Non-Handicap Strike Rates

To start with the only courses I was interested in were the ones with better strike rates than the average and the racecourse list is shown below.

Bath, Beverley, Brighton, Carlisle, Catterick, Chepstow, Chester, Epsom, Goodwood, Hamilton, Lingfield, Musselburgh, Nottingham, Redcar, Ripon, Southwell, Thirsk and Wolverhampton.

Flat Non-Handicap Profit

So we have a list of courses which have a better than average strike rate and with this next stage I was looking for courses which produced a below average loss or made a profit since 2008 when backing the top three rated, list below.

Ascot, Ayr, Bath, Beverley, Brighton, Carlisle, Catterick, Chepstow, Chester, Epsom, Ffos Las, Goodwood, Hamilton, Musselburgh, Newbury, Nottingham, Pontefract, Redcar, Ripon, Salisbury, Sandown, Thirsk and York.

Flat Non-Handicap ROI

You can see that there are a number which have done better than average in the strike rate and profit department area but just to make sure lets look at each of their ROI and see which courses the ratings have performed better than standard.

Ascot, Bath, Beverley, Epsom, Goodwood, Hamilton, Musselburgh, Newbury, Nottingham, Redcar, Ripon, Salisbury, Sandown, Thirsk and York.

Conclusion

So what do we know are there any racecourses which have a better than average strike rate, profit and ROI, well the answer is yes and the racecourse list is shown below.

Bath, Beverley, Epsom, Goodwood, Hamilton, Musselburgh, Nottingham, Redcar, Ripon and Thirsk.

But can we make a nice profit from backing the top three rated in flat non-handicap races at these courses, well I would not recommend backing all of the runners blindly which are in the top three with our horse ratings.

However what could be a good idea would be to check the odds on offer for any of these top three rated in flat non-handicap races running at the above courses and make sure that they are in the first three of the betting.

By doing this we would most likely end up with just one runner in a race which we could back, after all the top three in the betting should in theory have the best chance.
